Obituary

RIDGELEY WVA- Charles Dewayne Dicken Sr., 78 of Ridgeley WVa., passed away on Saturday October 23, 2021 at home. 

Born September 18. 1943 in Cumberland, he was the son Kenneth E. and Mary E. (McCarty) Dicken.  He was raised by and preceded in death William Merle and O. Maxine Hendrickson.   He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Gayle Dicken; brother Jack Dicken.

Charlie was a United States Army Veteran and served in Vietnam in 1967-1968.  He was a helicopter crew chief and served in the 82 Airborne and the 101st Airborne.  Charlie was a true patriot and loved his country.   He was a life member of the VVA Chapter 791, American Legion 942, life member of the Disabled American Vets, V.F.W Fort Ashby, all American member of the 82nd Airborne Association, the Keyser Moose Lodge 662 and the Piney Mountain Sportsman Association.  Charlie was a truck driver, and drove for many companies over the years as well as being an owner operator.  He also was a Maryland Hunters Safety Instructor and a member of the Rock of Ages Church.   Charlie enjoyed hunting, shooting, riding his trike, reminiscing with his trucking friends, and spending time with his family, neighbors, and many good friends.    

Surviving are his two sons Charles D. Dicken Jr. and wife Julie and William Dicken Sr. and wife Stephanie; two stepchildren Brian Scell and Ann (Scell) Miller and husband Jason; grandchildren William Dicken Jr. and wife Holly and Bethanie Chaney and husband Jairus; great-grandchildren Maverick and Remington Dicken. 

The family will receive friends at the Bradley J. Duffy Funeral Home P.A. 1322 National Highway Lavale on Thursday October 28, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A Funeral Service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Marshall Carder officiating. 

Interment will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Levels WVa.
